This cookbook is another New York Times Best Seller from Food Network Magazine. This is book 2 of 2 in Food Network Magazine’s Kids Cookbooks series, geared towards kids ages 8-12 (grades 3-7).
With 110+ recipes spread over 192 pages, the sections in this book include Muffins & Quick Breads, Brownies & Bars, Cookies, Cupcakes, Cakes, Fake-Out Cakes, and a bonus Fun & Games section. There’s also a visual recipe index with a photo of every recipe.
Some recipes that caught my eye were Apple-Pumpkin Muffins, Cherry-Pistachio Muffins, Mint Brownies, Milk-and-Cookies Cupcakes, Rainbow Slice-and-Bake Cookies, and S’mores Cake. They look like foods that my kids would scarf down in no time!
Have you ever made a cookie puzzle? Yes, a puzzle made from cookies. In the Just For Fun section, you’ll learn how to make a cookie puzzle. So much fun!
What’s also super fun are the “fake-out cakes” which are essentially yummy cakes disguised as something else, like Spaghetti-and-Meatballs Cake which you’ll find on pages 166-167 of this book. A couple of other fake-out cakes in this book look like a taco and a pineapple.
You’ll also find traditional crowd-pleasers like Red Velvet Brownies, Pumpkin Spice Chocolate Chip Cookies, Mini PB & Chocolate Cupcakes, Chocolate Candy Bar Layer Cake, along with others.
Ever heard of a choose-your-own-adventure recipe? This book will take you through the adventure of designing your own Whoopie Pies and Banana Bread (as well as other funtastic foods)!
There are also bonus food-themed activity pages with word scrambles, spot-the-difference photo games, and more.
Recipes are triple-tested by the chefs in the Food Network Kitchen. The recipes are simple to follow and come with color photos and pro tips to help young bakers get started in the kitchen.
